nationals_logoA Ryan Zimmerman RBI double broke a 3-3 eighth-inning tie, allowing the Washington Nationals to salvage the finale of a three-game set with National League-leading St. Louis, 4-3, on Wednesday at Busch Stadium.

For the third straight night, the Nats bullpen blew a late lead, when Matt Grace allowed a two-out RBI single to Kolten Wong that tied the game at 3-3.

Max Scherzer had been in line for the win, but ended up getting a no-decision after allowing two runs on 11 hits in six innings, striking out 10 without allowing a walk.

Zimmerman had a monster night at the plate for the Nationals, hitting two homers, his 15th and 16th of the season, in addition to his game-winner.

Jayson Werth (6) also homered for Washington (67-65), which kept pace six and a half games back of the New York Mets in the National League East.
