Washington Nationals top Cleveland Indians, 7-4

washington nationalsJayson Werth and Anthony Rendon provided the muscle for the Washington Nationals in a 7-4 win over Cleveland on Wednesday.

Werth (.253/.345/.439, 15 HR, 50 RBI) homered and drove in three runs, and Rendon (.268/.352/.443, 13 HR, 48 RBI) was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Gio Gonzalez (8-9, 4.24 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) got the win for the Nats (67-46), giving up four runs on seven hits in five-plus innings, striking out five and walking one.

The Washington bullpen gave up three hits in four scoreless innings. Mark Melancon (32 saves, 1.35 ERA, 0.88 WHIP) notched the save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Josh Tomlin (11-5, 4.18 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) took the loss for the Indians (63-48), getting touched up for seven runs on eight hits in four innings.
