Washington Nationals complete sweep of Diamondbacks

washington nationalsThe Washington Nationals pounded out 14 hits in an 8-3 win at Arizona, completing a three-game road sweep on Wednesday.

Max Scherzer (12-6, 2.87 ERA, 0.93 WHIP) got the win for the Nats (64-44), giving up three runs on four hits in eight innings, striking out 11 and walking one.

Daniel Murphy (.358/.398/.630, 21 HR, 80 HR) was 2-for-4 at the plate with a solo homer and two runs scored.

Trea Turner (.312/.346/.494, 1 HR, 11 RBI) hit his first MLB homer, a solo shot in the third.

Scherzer even got in on the offensive act, delivering a two-out, two-run single in the sixth.

Washington completed its road trip with a 6-3 record and now leads the NL East by seven games over second-place Miami (57-51).
