vmi footballFirst-year VMI head football coach Scott Wachenheim will make his debut on Thursday night, September 3, when the Keydets travel to Muncie, Indiana to face Ball State in the 2015 season opener. It will be the first meeting between the Keydets and the Cardinals of the MAC on the gridiron.

The 2015 VMI football schedule returns to an 11-game slate that features six home games at Foster Stadium and five road contests.

VMI will play its home opener September 12 against Morehead State in the first meeting between the schools since 1998 when the Eagles visited Lexington.

The Keydets will open up Southern Conference action on September 26 at Furman for the first of seven league encounters. VMI travels to Charleston, S.C. November 7 to face The Citadel in the “Military Classic of the South”.

Four October games will be played at Foster Stadium marking the first time that has happened since the 1983 campaign.

A familiar opponent from Virginia also returns to the 2015 schedule after the Keydets did not face a school from the Commonwealth in 2014. The Keydets and longtime state foe Richmond renew their rivalry September 19 at Robins Stadium in Richmond in the 90thmeeting of the series that dates back to 1893.

VMI will face Bucknell of the Patriot League for the third straight season as the Bison visit Foster Stadium on October 3.

Tickets for home games will go on sale in early summer and road game start times will be announced later in the coming months. Information for purchase of VMI tickets will be posted at www.VMITickets.com.
