VMI basketball: Ot, Jon Elmore leave Keydets program

vmi_logo2VMI basketball coach duggar baucom has announced that guards Ot and Jon Elmore have withdrawn from the Institute and will not be part of the 2014-15 roster.

Ot Elmore was a 6-3, 190 guard who played at Fork Union before arriving at VMI. Jon Elmore played last season at both Christ School (Asheville, N.C.) and George Washington High School in Charleston, W.Va.

Neither Elmore brother had appeared in a college game while attending VMI. Ot Elmore joined the program as a true freshman in 2013-14 and was redshirted last season. Jon Elmore signed a NLI with the VMI basketball program in November, 2013 and was entering his freshman season.

“While the timing of the Elmore brothers departure is not ideal, I would like to focus on my other 12 tough minded cadet-athletes that understand the unique challenges of The Institute and the value of the VMI degree,” said Baucom. “We are a close-knit basketball family that is only looking ahead and looking forward to the season starting.”

VMI opens the 2014-15 basketball season November 14 against The Citadel in the All-Military Classic at West Point, N.Y.
