VMI Baseball, which plays at #2 UVA on Tuesday, is now a quiet 7-0 on the season, after completing a weekend sweep of Coppin State on Sunday with a 16-0 win.
It’s not even March yet, but the winning streak has the Keydets at #49 in the D1 RPI ratings, and note that VMI is averaging a nation-best 14.0 runs per game, with a team slash line of .356/.551/.552.
Redshirt junior Jaxon Lloyd (2-0, 0.92 ERA) got the win on Sunday, going six innings and allowing just one hit, no runs, and no walks with nine strikeouts.
Sophomore DH Cole Raile (.350 BA, 1.409 OPS, 3 HRs, 13 RBIs) homered and drove in four in Sunday’s win.
Junior second baseman Kazuya Jordan (.353 BA, 1.144 OPS, 12 RBIs) was 2-for-4 with five RBIs.
The Keydets stole (gulp!) 13 bases on Sunday, and have 67 steals through seven games this season, which, yes, leads the nation.
The UVA-VMI game has a scheduled 3 p.m. ET Tuesday first pitch.
