VMI alum Matt Winn earns spring training invite

Contributors

vmi matt winnFormer VMI Keydet catcher Matt Winn is one of 21 non-roster invitees to the San Francisco Giants spring training, the team announced earlier this week.

Winn joins former first-round draft picks Tyler Beede and Christian Arroyo, veteran Kyle Blanks and former all-star Ricky Romero in that group. It will be the former Keydet’s first spring training spent in either major or minor league camp, after being drafted in June of 2015, and Winn comes off a minor league debut season in which he advanced to the South Atlantic League.

San Francisco’s spring training begins March 2 when the Giants play host to the Angels at Scottsdale Stadium.
