Update: Virginia State Police locate convicted sex offender

Update: July 17, 10:39 a.m. Thanks to tips from the public, Christopher J. Mixell, 38, has been located and taken into custody. He was apprehended July 10, 2018, by the U.S. Marshals Service without incident at campground in Botetourt County.

 

Original post: June 26, 2018, 12:40 p.m. The Virginia State Police Sex Offender Investigative Unit is seeking the public’s help with locating a convicted sex offender whose last-known residential and employment addresses were in Charlottesville.

Christopher J. Mixell, 38, is a white male with blond hair and hazel eyes. He is 5’8 and weighs 150 pounds. As of June 14, 2018, he is wanted in Albemarle County for failing to appear in court on a previous charge of failing to register as a sex offender.

Anyone with information concerning Mixell is encouraged to please contact the Virginia State Police. Anonymous tips can be submitted via Mixell’s web page on the Virginia Sex Offender Registry under “TIPS” or the public can call 434-352-7128 or #77 on a cell or email VSP at [email protected].
