Virginia State Police investigating suspicious death in Augusta County

policecar3The Virginia State Police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a female discovered in Augusta County Sunday afternoon (April 19).

At 1:23 p.m., Virginia State Police Trooper S.A. Simmons was on patrol and noticed what appeared to be an abandoned white Chevrolet Tahoe parked at the end of S218 near Barterbrook Road, at the Interstate 64 and Interstate 81 interchange. Further investigation by the trooper led to the discovery of a deceased adult female lying near the vehicle.

The woman’s body was transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Roanoke for examination, autopsy and positive identification.
