Virginia State Police investigating fatal house fire in Augusta County

policecar3The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Appomattox Field Office is currently investigating a double fatal fire in Churchville, Va.

The fire was called in to the Augusta County authorities at 9:17 a.m. Wednesday (April 15). The fire occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Unionchurch Road.

The bodies of an adult male and adult female were recovered from inside the residence. The remains have been transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Roanoke for positive identification.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation at this time.
