Virginia State Police investigating fatal crash in Campbell County

virginia state policeAt approximately 7:20 p.m. on Aug. 16, Virginia State Police was called to a single-vehicle crash in Campbell County.

A 1998 Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Route 501 about half a mile north of Stevens Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to run off the right side of the road and overturn.

The driver – Michael K. Johnson, 39, of Lynchburg, Va. – was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Johnson was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. On Saturday (Aug. 25, 2018), he succumbed to those injuries at the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
