Virginia Opera will visit Historic Battersea for free outdoor concert

virginia operaBattersea Foundation will host Arias and Duets with the Virginia Opera on Saturday, July 23rd at the Historic Villa located at 1289 Upper Appomattox Lane, Petersburg, Va.

This concert is free and open to the public, thanks to a generous gift from the Elmwood Fund.  The gates will open at 4:00 p.m.. with the performance beginning at 5:30. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.  Beer, wine, sodas, snacks and ice cream will be available to purchase.

Virginia Opera Association, in its 42nd season, is known and respected nationwide for the identification and presentation of the finest young artists, for the musical and dramatic integrity of its productions, and for the ingenuity and variety of its education and outreach programs.

Mainstage performances in three markets across the Commonwealth reach nearly 50,000 attendees annually and more than 150,000 students and community members through its innovative Education and Community Outreach Program.

In March of 1994, by unanimous vote of the Virginia General Assembly, Virginia Opera was named The Official Opera Company of the Commonwealth of Virginia in recognition of the organization’s contribution to the state as well as to the world of opera.
