An accident involving a car hauler on Interstate 95 has blocked all northbound lanes in Hanover County at the 96-mile marker.

A detour is being established in coordination with the Virginia Department of Transportation at exit 89.

According to Virginia State Police, a preliminary investigation shows that a tractor trailer veered off the road and struck a stationary car hauler that was on the shoulder.

The force of the collision caused the tractor trailer to overturn blocking all northbound lanes.

Several vehicles that were on the car hauler were dislodged and thrown onto the shoulder and embankment.

Both drivers sustained injuries though they do no appear to be life-threatening, according to VSP.

The investigation is ongoing.
