Virginia Tech football had little trouble with East Carolina, as they beat the Pirates 54-17. Beamer Ball was back in Blacksburg as the Hokies made big plays on special teams throughout the game, including an 87-yard punt return touchdown by Greg Stroman. Jerod Evans continued his nice start to the season with 379 total yards, 3 passing touchdowns and an amazing 55-yard touchdown run.
