UVA Softball coach Joanna Hardin has hired Caty Reeves, late of Abilene Christian, to serve as the director of operations and player development on her staff.
Reeves replaces Benjamin Sewell. I can’t find any information on what happened with Sewell, other than that he is no longer on the roster page.
Reeves, a Cal Baptist alum, spent the past five seasons on the coaching staff at Abilene Christian. She served three seasons as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator before being named associate head coach after the 2022 season, and taking over offensive coordinator duties for the 2024 season.
At Abilene Christian, Reeves was in charge of the advanced analytics, scouting reports and practice scheduling, among other duties.
Prior to that gig, Reeves spent one season as a volunteer assistant at Ole Miss, six seasons as the head coach at Oklahoma Wesleyan, and one year at McNeese State, back in 2012.
Hardin was an assistant coach at McNeese State for two years, 2013-2014, before a two-year stint as the head coach there, ahead of taking the job at Virginia in 2016.
“I am thrilled to have Caty joining our staff here at Virginia,” Hardin said. “She adds more than 12 years of coaching experience across multiple divisions and in multiple roles to our staff – experience that elevates our program immediately. Caty is a learner and brings a combination of ideation and tenacity to our team. We are fortunate to have her as a Cavalier.”
