UVA creative writing professor Jane Alison to read from new novel, Villa E

Crystal Graham

A creative writing professor at the University of Virginia will take part in a book reading and signing on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m.

Jane Alison will be reading from her new novel, Villa E, released from Liveright this month, at New Dominion Bookshop.

The event is free and open to the public.

Villa E is inspired by the real-life collision of Irish designer Eileen Gray and famed Swiss architect Le Corbusier and the extraordinary place that bound them. Villa E boldly reimagines a now-infamous feud into a lushly poetic and mesmerizing novel of power, predation, memory and obsession.

Alison is the author of four previous novels and a memoir, The Sisters Antipodes, as well as translations of Ovid’s stories of sexual transformation. She’s also written a book on the craft and theory of writing: Meander, Spiral, Explode: Design and Pattern in Narrative.

New Dominion Bookshop is located at 404 E. Main St. on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville.
