Henry Zatkowski looked like a Friday starter, giving #17 Virginia six innings of one-hit baseball, striking out eight, in a 5-3 win over VCU in the opener of a three-game series at Disharoon Park.

The one hit was a one-out double off the bat of Nick Flores that scored Quinn Maher, one of two VCU hitters that reached via the walk in the fourth inning.

Trent Adelman followed with an RBI groundout, tying the game at the time at 2-2.

UVA (8a-1) had gotten on the board in the early innings on solo homers from Eric Becker and Nick Jouras.

The ‘Hoos answered the two-spot from VCU in the top of the fourth with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth, on a Becker two-run double, and an RBI single from AJ Gracia.

The UVA bullpen held the Rams to one hit the rest of the way; that one was also productive, though, an RBI single from Jacob Lee in the eighth that got VCU back within two runs.

Tyler Kapa closed the game out with a 1-2-3 ninth that included two punchouts.
