#9 Virginia, fresh off a successful road trip to Notre Dame over the weekend, heads down I-64 for a midweek game at VCU this afternoon.
First pitch is at 3 p.m. at The Diamond.
The ’Hoos (26-11) swept a three-game weekend series with the Rams (21-14) the weekend of Feb. 27-March 1, taking the first two games in Charlottesville, then winning Game 3 in Richmond.
Freshman Christian Lucarelli will get his first career start for the Cavaliers on a staff day.
Lucarelli (1-1, 0.93 ERA) has a streak of eight straight scoreless appearances, most recently on April 4, when he put in 1.2 scoreless innings in a 9-3 Virginia loss to #8 Florida State.
Walks have been an issue for the righthander – 11 BBs in 9.2 IP.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
