UVA Athletics announces strategic retreat from stupid Hill policy

OK, so, remember how UVA Athletics started restricting access to The Hill at Scott Stadium for UVA Football home games, and how fans and alums, in response, universally decried the move as stupid?

We just got word that, for the second time, the athletics department is amending the stupid policy, this time, basically, declaring a strategic retreat from the whole thing.

“For the remaining two home football games, The Hill at Scott Stadium will be open on a first come, first served basis to all ticket holders as capacity allows,” UVA Athletics announced in a press release sent out at the end of the business day on Thursday.

ICYMI

Back in August, UVA Athletics announced that access to The Hill would be limited to UVA students, Virginia Athletics Foundation membership card holders, season-ticket holders, mini-plan ticket holders, Cavman’s Crew (eighth grade and under) and designated groups on a per-game basis.

And if you left The Hill, to go to the bathroom or to buy a hot dog that had been sitting out on the warmer since 1977, you’d need a sticker to get back in.

The sticker nonsense was lifted ahead of the Boston College game.

Per today’s press release, patrons on The Hill may exit at any time, however re-entry is not guaranteed if maximum capacity is reached.

Based on the attendance in recent weeks, that shouldn’t be an issue.
