Sandra L. Martin, 44, of Waynesboro, and her daughter/passenger, Haylee Martin, 12, of Waynesboro, both died at the scene of the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 250 and Route 792.

The 2001 Pontiac Grand Am that the Martins were traveling in was westbound on Route 250 and in the process of making a left turn onto Route 792, when it was struck in the passenger’s side by a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban.

The Suburban was traveling east on Route 250 and failed to stop for the red light.

The driver and adult male passenger in the Suburban were transported to Augusta Health for treatment of minor injuries. The driver, Kenneth L. Barber, 60, of Crozet, Va., has since been transported to Middle River Regional Jail and charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter (Code of Virginia 18.2-36.1).

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
