Update: Suspect in custody after two armed robberies in Albemarle County

A Charlottesville man is in custody after armed robberies at the ABC Store and Taco Bell in Albemarle County this morning.

Stephen T. Agner, 64, allegedly demanded cash and made threats of having a weapon at the ABC Store in Pantops Center and the Taco Bell located in the 100 block of Riverbend Drive. The two businesses are generally in the same area, Pantops, approximately 0.2 miles apart.

The suspect fled by car with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Agner was taken into custody at his residence with the assistance of the Charlottesville Police Department.

ACPD has charged Agner with:

  • Two counts of robbery
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
  • Possessing a firearm as a convicted felon

Agner is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Online court records in Virginia do not show any previous criminal history.
