Two-time Major winner Angel Cabrera set to defend 2014 Greenbrier Classic title

He leads a group of past champions competing in this year’s tournament that includes Jonas Blixt and Scott Stallings.The sixth edition of The Greenbrier Classic will take place from June 29July 5, 2015 at The Greenbrier, the classic American resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.

Cabrera is a two-time major championship winner with victories at the 2007 U.S. Open Championship and 2009 Masters Tournament. The Greenbrier Classic defending champ posted four sub-70 rounds in route to last year’s win, including back-to-back, 6-under-par 64s in rounds three and four to seal his third PGA TOUR title. The 45-year-old native of Argentina will attempt to be the first two-time winner of The Greenbrier Classic, and first player not to win in their inaugural start, as he makes his second-career tournament appearance at the end of this month. Cabrera has recorded two top-25 finishes during the 2014-15 season and earned $14,039,787 during his PGA TOUR career.

Blixt, the 2013 Greenbrier Classic champion, will be making his third start on The Old White TPC Course. His T-35 finish in last year’s tournament moved his Classic scoring average and earnings to 67.88 and $1,162,697.50 respectively. The 31-year-old Swedish native has recorded three top-25 finishes during the 2014-15 season and ranks No. 113 in the world and 134 in FedExCup points. Blixt boasts two PGA TOUR wins and career TOUR earnings of $6,043,094.

Stallings, 30, has recorded three PGA TOUR titles since turning professional in 2007. His latest victory came at the 2014 Farmers Insurance Open. The Knoxville, TN resident is currently ranked No. 142 in the Official World Golf Rankings and No. 91 in FedExCup points. Stallings will be making his fifth start on The Old White TPC Course, after a T-35 finish in last year’s event. The 2011 Greenbrier Classic champion has a tournament scoring average of 68.63 and career tournament earnings totaling $1,175,461.50
