A VDOT contractor will begin work today to extend the turn lanes from U.S. 29 (Seminole Trail) onto Route 609 (Fredericksburg Road) from both U.S. 29 north and U.S. 29 south.

During construction, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., northbound and southbound drivers on U.S. 29 will have access to both eastbound and westbound Fredericksburg Road. But drivers should slow down and be alert for workers in and near the roadway.

Upon completion, the turn lanes will extend to a total of 300 feet each. The anticipated completion date is Friday, August 30, 2024, weather permitting.
