Traffic alert: Blue Ridge Soap Box Derby in Waynesboro

soap-box-newThe annual Blue Ridge Soap Box Derby Classic will take place on Saturday on Main Street in Downtown Waynesboro.

Please see below for a listing of road closures associated with the race.  These closures will be in place from 5:30 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday.  Vehicles parked along the race route will have to be moved by 5:00 AM or will be towed.

  • West Main Street from McElroy Street to Maple Avenue
  • Arch Avenue from Federal Street to Lumos Plaza
  • Wayne Avenue from Federal to Lumos Plaza
  • Church Street at Federal Avenue
  • Lumos Plaza will have limited access

Associated parking lots and alleys will also be closed to prevent traffic from entering Main Street between Maple Avenue and McElroy Street and also parking lots and alleys between Wayne Avenue and Church Street.  The Waynesboro Police Department will have officers along the race route to enforce the street closures.
