hbg turksSophomore right-hander Matt Hartman (Arizona) took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and Harrisonburg used four- and five-run innings to take a wire-to-wire victory over visiting Staunton, 10-4, Sunday night at Veterans Memorial Park,

The Turks (18-6), winners of 12 of their last 13, opened up a two-game lead over the second-place Braves (16-8).

Hartman improved to 4-0 and retired the first 11 batters.  He walked the 12th batter faced, but did not give up a hit until there was one out in the fifth.  The Braves, who trailed 5-0 after three innings, managed four runs, three earned off four hits and one walk against Hartman during his six frames of work.

Third baseman Tyler Straub (UT San Antonio) led the Turks at the plate with three singles and an RBI.  Catcher Trevor Denton (Pitt C.C.) added a pair of hits, including an RBI single in a five-run eighth that iced the victory.

First baseman Austin Edens (Samford) went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Braves.

The Turks continue their six-game homestand Monday by hosting Front Royal at 7:30 p.m.  The Braves play Monday at Strasburg.
