Ohio State is ranked No. 4 in the preseason Flowrestling rankings, with Virginia tabbed at No. 18. The Buckeyes are coming off a sixth-place finish at the 2014 NCAA Championships. A total of 16 wrestlers from the two teams are individually ranked in the preseason Flowrestling rankings.

Virginia has seven wrestlers in the preseason Flowresting rankings, topped by two-time All-American Nick Sulzer (R-Sr., Cleveland, Ohio), who is ranked No. 2 at 165 pounds. Gus Sako (R-Sr., Cleveland, Ohio) is No. 9 at 157, while Blaise Butler (R-Jr., Belvidere, Ill.) stands No. 10 at 174. Virginia also is represented in the top 20 by Zach Nye (R-Sr., Enola, Pa., No. 11 at 197), George DiCamillo (R-So., Highland Heights, Ohio, No. 13 at 133), Joe Spisak (R-Sr., Boiling Springs, Pa., No. 13 at 141) and Ethan Hayes (R-Jr., New Lebanon, Ohio, No. 18 at heavyeweight).

Ohio State has nine wrestlers ranked in the top 20 of their respective weight classes, highlighted by three-time national champion Logan Stieber, who is ranked No. 1 at 141 pounds. His brother, Hunter, is No. 2 at 149 pounds. Johnni DiJulius checks in at No. 7 at 133, Josh Demas is seventh at 157 and Kenny Courts is ranked ninth at 184. Other Buckeyes in the rankings include Nathan Tomasello (12th, 125 pounds), Bo Jordan (16th, 165 pounds), Mark Martin (12th, 174 pounds) and Nick Tavanello (12th, heavyweight).

This marks the Cavaliers’ third match at JPJ. UVa downed then-No. 8 Virginia Tech, 19-16, last season. The Hokies topped Virginia, 18-13, in 2011 in front of a UVa-record crowd, with the spirited dual coming down to an overtime match in the final bout at heavyweight.

All other Virginia home duals will be contested inside Memorial Gymnasium; there is no admission charge for matches at Mem Gym. The Cavaliers open their 2014-15 schedule at home on Nov. 2 when they play host to Anderson, George Mason and VMI in a quadrangular meet beginning at 10 a.m.

Virginia returns 25 letterwinners from its 2013-14 squad, including Sulzer, who won the ACC championship and placed fourth at 165 pounds at the 2014 NCAA Championships as well as two more ACC champions, Butler and DiCamillo.
