nicole henryJazz vocalist Nicole Henry headlines the star-studded lineup for the Saturday, April 7 Grand Gala at the Wayne Theatre in Waynesboro.

Henry, the 2013 Soul Train Music Award-winning vocalist, has had three Billboard Top 10 hits and has performed worldwide, including the Lincoln Center and Blue Note Jazz Club in New York and Tokyo’s famed Cotton Club.

“This will be the premier party of the year in Waynesboro,” said Tracy Straight, the executive director of the Wayne Theatre. “The Grand Gala will be a special night celebrating the Wayne Theatre, and what it means to the community to have this special venue as a regional center for the live and visual arts.”

Stars from the Wayne Theatre’s Broadway musicals will perform pop-up songs from “My Fair Lady,” “Shrek,” “Secret Garden” and “Sister Act” ahead of Henry’s 8 p.m. concert.

“We will also have Hollywood stars who will be making special appearances,” said Hank Fitzgerald, director of the Wayne Theatre musicals. Think Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.

The Grand Gala kicks off at 6 p.m. with a pre-party under a tent on Main Street that includes a red-carpet entrance for ticket-holders. A photo opportunity and live auction will take place before the concert and a silent disco will take place under the stars after the show. Guests will be able to put on headphones and groove to the music.

The event also honors Jeane Custin.

“The Wayne Theatre brings great entertainment to the stage but we are so much more,” said Straight. “There’s huge value in supporting the Wayne Theatre. When you support and advocate for the Wayne Theatre, you are making our community a greater place for all.”

Tickets to the Gala are $150 per person and are available at (540) 943-9999 or waynetheatre.org
