Chris Tillman was rolling. Then he wasn’t.
Texas got to Tillman in a five-run sixth, and the Rangers knocked off the Orioles, 6-3, Thursday night in a series opener in Arlington.
Tillman (1-1, 5.11 ERA) had been cruising, giving up a run on four hits on 77 pitches in the first five innings as the O’s built a 3-1 lead, before the Rangers offense exploded in the fifth, touching Tillman up for five runs on five hits.
Mark Trumbo hit his third homer of the season for Baltimore, a solo shot in the third off Texas starter Cole Hamels.
The loss was the second in a row for the Orioles after a season-opening seven-game winning streak.
