Talk on Crozet Tunnel at WTA’s Gateway

The Clann Mhor Organization’s presentation on the Claudius Crozet railroad tunnel through Afton Mountain will be held on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the WTA’s Gateway Theatre, 329 W. Main Street, Waynesboro.

Learn about the Irish immigrants and slaves who constructed this 19th Century historical phenomenon.

Donations of $5 will be appreciated by the Waynesboro Heritage Foundationn Inc.

Clann Mhór is a small nonprofit research organization that is studying the history of the Blue Ridge Railroad in Central Virginia. During the 1850s this 17-mile section of the railroad was built under the direction of Claudius Crozet, a brilliant French engineer, who took on the challenge of getting the railroad over the Blue Ridge Mountains..
