Two of the Radio Hour audience’s favorite musical groups are teaming up for a doubleheader at WTA’s Gateway on Friday, May 25.
Leading off the night will be The SunnySide Band. Following them will be The River City Boys. Together, they promise the evening will be a home run for Gateway audiences.
The performance starts at 8 p.m. at 329 West Main in Downtown Waynesboro.
The SunnySide Band specializes in the old-time mountain music. They have been called a “band unto itself – laid-back yet professional, free yet disciplined, and speak a universal language with their music.”
Carol Phillips, whose passion is the Carter Family, plays the autoharp. Joining her are Jim Lilly, on guitar, and Betty Calvert, on bass. According to their reviewers, “This trio gives the beauty of mountain music a fresh twist.”
The River City Boys are a new vocal group whose harmonies have been likened to the Statler Brothers. Although Mike Ross, Randy Clark, Andy Fletcher, and Tim Williams have been singing together for only a year, they bring a wealth of experience as performers. The group formed out of the pleasure they receive from performing and sharing their unique sound.
