Streaking Gonzalez hurls gem in Nationals win

washington nationalsGio Gonzalez won his fourth straight decision in a 3-2 Washington Nationals triumph over Philadelphia on Sunday.

Gonzalez (11-9, 4.27 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) gave up a run on four hits in seven innings, striking out five and walking one.

He has gone 7-1 in 12 starts dating back to July 10.

Trea Turner (.343/.365/.552, 8 HR, 30 RBI) was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored for the Nats (85-58), who have a nine-game lead on the New York Mets (76-67) in the NL East, and a magic number to clinch the division of 11.
