Strasburg (12-0, 2.62 ERA, 1.01 WHIP) gave up a run on two hits in seven innings, striking out nine and walking three.

In his two starts since returning from the disabled list last week, Strasburg has given up two hits in 13 and two-thirds innings of work.

Syndergaard (9-4, 2.56 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) wasn’t nearly as good, giving up three runs on four hits in four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three.

Clint Robinson (.222/.288/.433, 5 HR, 17 RBI) provided the big blow for the Nats offense, with a two-run homer in the second.

Daniel Murphy (.345/.382/.579, 15 HR, 60 RBI) added an RBI double in the third.

Washington (52-36) gained a game on its lead over the Mets (47-39), who are now four games back in the NL East.
