Staunton Senior Center to mark 40th year

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Staunton Senior Center with “A Stroll Down Memory Lane” where you can sway to the rhythms of the 17-piece, Big Band orchestra from Charlottesville, Sentimental Journey.

Feast your eyes on the floorshow of the tap dancing troupe, Diane & Company, and the special guest appearances of reigning and past Ms. Virginia Senior America pageant winners.

Enjoy tasty hors d’oeuvres, sparkling punch and surprises throughout the evening.

Special invited guests include:

Bob Corso from WHSV-TV Channel 3;

Frances Spears Stevenson, daughter of Senior Center founder, Theresa Spears Walls, and granddaughter of Staunton’s first African-American lawyer, James Morris;

Kit Carter and members of the Persinger family who directed and managed the Center during the early years.

Tickets ($15 per person) available in Staunton at Bookworks (101 West Beverley Street) and at the Senior Center (300 Churchville Avenue). Proceeds will fund the Center’s new 14-passenger van.

The Gypsy Hill Park Gym, near the football stadium and baseball diamond, is handicap accessible and has ample parking.

Get gussied up and come out for an evening of family fun!
