Staunton Senior Center members busy in spite of weather

In spite of record-breaking temps and dreary winter days, Staunton Senior Center members did not miss a beat this week except for Senior Bingo on Tuesday as there just were not enough to make it a trip.

ssc-headerSo they kept busy with other activities including Wheel of Fortune, a trip to the Cheese Shop in Stuarts Draft, and an outing to enjoy hot beverages at Cranberry’s in Staunton, the second in a Coffee Shop Stop series this month. Members’ hearts were also warmed by the company of second graders from Grace Christian Elementary School who came to play games with them. Puzzles were constructed, balls and rings were tossed, new games were taught, and relationships were built as well!

Members were treated to the first in a series of revamped health programs that Staunton and Waynesboro Senior Centers are offering for the new year. Three local health care professionals working as a team arrived Thursday with the program “Livening Up the Winter Months”, providing stations with the activities of scrap booking and pen pal and recipe clubs.

Also the PM Canasta Club got off the ground on Thursday afternoon with three members and one guest clustered around the card table playing into the afternoon hours.

Winter weather definitely does NOT dampen the spirits of SSC members one bit!
