A Staunton man is in custody on 21 counts of knowingly possessing and distributing child pornography.

Marcus D. Lane Jr., 42, was arrested as part of a joint investigation involving the Staunton Police Department and the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The city PD reported in a news release on Wednesday that it received a referral in the case through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in April.

Lane is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
