Staunton busts out for big weekend showcase in April

staunton2editsDowntown Staunton will be buzzing with activity the weekend of April 25, as merchants, community groups and residents gather to celebrate the unique local culture Staunton has to offer. In addition to the 13th Annual Virginia Hot Glass Festival at Sunspots Studios, several more activities have popped up to start new traditions that showcase the city.

The Depot Grille presents the 3rd Annual Bridge Day Staunton on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 11am-4pm at the Staunton Station. Bridge Day Staunton is a celebration of local music, arts, history, food, artisans, shopping and community action. A wide variety of free family-friendly activities will be on tap near the Historic Sears Hill Bridge at the Staunton Train Station and fan out into Downtown’s many independent businesses. Proceeds will benefit the Staunton Music Guild. Music lineup will be: 11am Chris Campbell, (children’s music), noon The Washboard Wonders,1pm The Last Minute Band and 2pm The No Lonesome

New Staunton memorabilia such as collector pins, mugs, historic photos and more will be featured at the event. In addition to some Bridge Day lunch specials at the Depot Grille, food vendors on site will include: Bakers Dozen Donuts, Lucas Roasting Company, The Store, MJ’s Kettle Corn, Paris Cake Company and The American Café. The LTD 7 Spring Outdoor Market will be held April 25 from 10am-4pm featuring local vintage, artisan and repurposed items from local vendors.

Staunton is also well known for its entrepreneurial community, and April 24-26 will be hosting the first Innovate LIVE!, a crowd-sourced, energy-packed, festive convergence of Local Innovators, Visionaries, and Entrepreneurs.
