State Police: Charges pending in fatal crash that killed 82-year-old woman

Charges are pending in a fatal crash on U.S. 58 Friday in Mecklenburg County.

Nellie Brown, 82, died at the scene.

Virginia State Police is investigating the accident that occurred at 11:15 a.m., approximately one-half mile west of Route 49.

A Hyundai Sonata was disabled in the right travel lane of eastbound Route 58 when it was rear-ended by the driver of a Honda Ridgeline. The driver of the Honda, Bret B. Callahan, 55, of Buffalo Junction, suffered minor injuries.

Both vehicles went off of the right side of the road, and the Sonata overturned.

The deceased, Nellie Brown, was a passenger in the Sonata.

The driver of the Sonata, Marvin J. Brown, 62, of Buffalo Junction, also suffered minor injuries.
