Two popular Central Virginia vocal groups will perform an evening of song at WTA’s Gateway on Saturday, June 9.
The exciting a’cappella group, Sound Direction, will bring their brilliant harmonies to the stage while The Faithful Men will add their gospel music to the mixture. The performance is at 8:00 pm in WTA’s Gateway at 329 West Main in downtown Waynesboro.
Sound Direction made their first appearance at WTA’s Gateway when they returned from a self-imposed hiatus. The a’cappella sextet is made up of three couples from the Shenandoah Valley: Betsy & Keith Dishman, Kim & David Tate and Bettie & John Tindall. The group performs a wide variety of music including vocal jazz, popular standards, spirituals, novelty numbers, and folk tunes. Imagine a sound with the tight harmonies of a jazz ensemble, the street corner appeal of American doo-wop and the vocal purity of a choir, that’s the music Sound Direction, creates.
The Faithful Men was formed in 1998 for the love of singing Gospel music. From the beginning the group has been ecumenical. The members believe that God is not concerned with the brand name of denomination over your church door, but is more concerned with the brand of Christian in your heart. To date, they have performed at more than 400 events. This will be their first performance at WTA’s Gateway.
