The Central Shenandoah Valley is under a winter storm watch with the possibility of an inch or two of snow and then some sleet and freezing rain tonight and tomorrow.
“It looks like it’s going to be a close call for you guys as far as snow,” said Kate Walters, a meteorologist at AccuWeather.com, whose read of the latest forecast models puts the Central Shenandoah Valley on the line between a wintry mix and snow.
The forecast as of early Monday afternoon is for an inch or maybe two inches of snow in most locations in the Valley before the changeover to sleet and freezing rain.
The snow looks likely to begin late tonight or in the overnight hours early tomorrow morning, Walters said.
The changeover to sleet and freezing rain will be followed late Tuesday by one last transition to rain.
