lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesnationals_logoBaltimore pitchers issued six walks, and Orioles fielders committed three errors, but the Washington Nationals couldn’t take advantage in a dreary 4-1 loss at Nationals Park Tuesday night.

The Nats (78-72) missed on an opportunity to gain a game on the New York Mets, who lost in Atlanta, 6-2, but remain six and a half games up in the National League East.

The O’s (74-76) are five and a half games out of the second wild-card spot in the American League.

Ubaldo Jimenez (12-9, 4.16 ERA) got the win for Baltimore, giving up a run on three hits in six innings, striking out five and walking five.

Jimenez also had an RBI single to fuel a two-run second for the O’s. Nolan Reimold had an RBI single in that frame as well.

Washington got its run in the fourth on an RBI fielders choice by Jose Lobaton.

Baltimore added two more runs in the fifth on RBI doubles by Chris Davis and Steve Pearce.

Darren O’Day notched his fourth save, pitching around an error in the ninth, striking out Anthony Rendon looking for the final out.

Gio Gonzalez (11-8, 3.94 ERA) gave up four runs on six hits in four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking two.

Bryce Harper was 0-for-1 at the plate with three walks.
