A 73-year-old Staunton woman died in a single-vehicle crash on Route 254 approximately 7/10 of a mile west of Route 876 in Augusta County Tuesday morning.

Ferraba O. Collier, 73, of Staunton, was traveling east on Route 254 when her 1997 Volkswagen Jetta ran off the right side of the road. The car continued down a slight embankment and struck a barbed wire fence and post.

Collier died at the scene. She was wearing a seat belt. Her body has been taken to the Medical Examiner’s office in Roanoke for examination and autopsy.

The crash remains under investigation at this time. Alcohol was not a factor.
