Memorial Day weekend is a great time for a pic-a-nic. And Shenandoah National Park would be a great place.

The park recently opened picnic grounds in its South District. The Dundo Picnic Grounds, formerly the Dundo Group Campground, is located at Milepost 80 along Skyline Drive.

The picnic grounds feature picnic tables, grills, water and pit toilets.

“We’re pleased to offer our visitors and park neighbors additional locations to recreate in the park, and we welcome everyone back to the South District to enjoy a day of picnicking,” park superintendent Chas Cartwright said.

For more information about park facilities go to www.nps.gov/shen or call 540.999.3500.
