After graduating from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master of Science degree in Community Human Nutrition, Dr. Shawver received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Family Practice at Lancaster General Hospital in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Shawver is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Prior to coming to Augusta Health, Dr. Shawver practiced in Pennsylvania and Pearisburg, Va.  His professional interests, in addition to family medicine, include basic office orthopedics.

“I am interested in working with a wide range of patients, from children through the elderly,” says Dr. Shawver. “I believe it is my job as a ‘family doc’ to partner with my patients in making their lives as good as possible.”

Dr. Shawver enjoys working on his house and its landscaping, playing with his dog, and staying in shape through activities such as hiking.
