Senators to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: You’re making America sick again

Who’s thinking about the mental health of the tens of thousands of federal healthcare workers laid off this week by the Trump/Musk administration to free up money for tax breaks for billionaires?

(Answer: nobody in the Trump/Musk administration.)

“Your actions continue to show a reckless disregard for the health and well-being of American families, most significantly for underserved communities. You claim this ‘reduction in force’ will ‘make America healthy again.’ But firings of this scale will do the exact opposite,” reads a letter written by Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and sent to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Kennedy doesn’t care. He wants as many people out of his way as possible to clear the way for getting rid of vaccine requirements and gutting cancer research, because it’s his theory that drinking water and eating healthy food – and a healthy dose of vitamin A – is all we need to make America healthy again.

Or at least that’s what he claims.

Cutting the budget for healthcare also puts more money in the American oligarchs’ pockets, which is the real goal there.

“You continue to deny visibility to the American public, despite your oft-repeated commitment to ‘radical transparency,’” the senators wrote to Kennedy. “You have promised that HHS will do more for the American people, at a lower cost to the taxpayer, yet you have not provided anything to substantiate these claims, despite repeated requests from Congress to do so.”

Again, dude doesn’t care.

RFK Jr. thinks it’s promoting good health to stop on the side of the road to pick up a dead bear cub and saw the head off a beached whale.

He’s had his stooges lay off thousands of workers from HHS, including the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Administration for Children and Families.

Many of those laid off were not informed about their termination until they showed up at work and could not get through security.

“If you do not reverse course, you will do irreparable damage to our nation’s human services, health care delivery, public health, and scientific infrastructure – making Americans sicker and leaving our communities ill-prepared for future threats,” the senators wrote.

In his defense, he’s still doing his own research.
