Seminole Drive Bridge in Amherst County narrowed

Chris Graham

virginiaMotorists using Seminole Drive, Route 681 in Amherst County should be aware of the narrowed lanes on the bridge over Williams Run.

VDOT has placed traffic control devices and narrowed the lane in each direction to 10’ to shift traffic away from the outside edges of the structure while allowing the bridge to function as a two-lane structure.

Recent inspections unveiled deterioration in the bridge beams and alleviating some of the weight/pressure on those beams will allow the structure to function until repairs that are more permanent occur. The bridge is structurally safe.

Seminole Drive has a daily traffic volume of 4135 vehicles per day.
