The 14th-ranked Virginia baseball team stretched its school-record winning streak to 16 games with a come-from-behind 5-4 win over Marshall University Tuesday afternoon at Davenport Field. The winning streak is the longest active streak in the nation and the Cavaliers remain the only unbeaten team in Division 1 this season in improving to 16-0.
Trailing 4-0 in the sixth (only the second time this season ) Virginia scored one run and then added a four run seventh after two outs to gain the win. Junior Tyler Cannon paced Virginia with three hits and two RBI’s.
Fans have another opportunity Wednesday to catch the Cavaliers as they play host to Canisius at 4 p.m. followed with a nightcap contest with Wagner University to begin approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
Virginia has a huge Atlantic Coast Conference showdown this weekend at home against Miami.
