william and maryThe William and Mary men’s basketball team connected on a school-record tying 16 3-pointers and dished out 28 assists in upending Delaware, 94-79, on Thursday night at the Bob Carpenter Center.

Leading by four at the half, W&M (14-6, 6-3 CAA) scored the first eight points of the second half and held a double-digit advantage for the majority of the final 20 minutes in handing the Blue Hens (5-15, 0-9 CAA) their 12th-straight loss. It marked the fifth time in W&M history, and third under head coachTony Shaver, that the Tribe hit 16 3-pointers, while the 28 assists were the most by a CAA team this season and the second-most in program annals.

Sophomore David Cohn continued his strong play, tallying a career-high 23 points to go with nine assists. He was 7-of-12 from the field, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range. Classmate Connor Burchfield busted the Blue Hens zone defense, connecting on all six of his 3-point attempts in the opening 20 minutes and scored 18 points on the night. Junior Omar Prewitt turned in a nice all-around stat line with 18 points, five rebounds, a career-high tying six assists and two blocked shots, and senior Terry Tarpey just missed a double-double with 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The Tribe returns home for a regionally televised game with James Madison (16-6, 6-3 CAA) on Sunday night. The contest is slated for a 7 p.m. from Kaplan Arena and will be televised on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, Philadelphia, California and Northwest as well as SportsNet New York. Fans can also watch the broadcast online at CAA.TV (subject to online blackout in certain areas).
