Chris Graham

The Chronic Disease Self-Management Steering Committee for the SAW Region met on Nov. 20 at Augusta Regional Free Clinic.

Regional Director Janice Gentry shared news of a recent donation from the Waynesboro Lions Club for a future Diabetes Self Management Program (DSMP) Workshop in Waynesboro and a grant request that was submitted to Augusta Health for the purposes of expanding the DSMP program in our area. The decision on the grant request is expected at the beginning of December.

Chronic Disease Self Management Education Coordinator Joyce Nussbaum gave a report on the final numbers from the previous year, our goals for the current year, and how many workshops and completers we’ve had so far.

A Leader Reunion and Refreshers program was scheduled for Feb. 25, 2014 from 6p -8p at Augusta Regional Free Clinic.

The meal will be provided by Home Instead Senior Care followed by refresher training led by Joyce. The next meeting of the Steering Committee is set for Feb. 11, 2014, at 2:30p.m. at Waynesboro Senior Center.
