Part of Route 703 (Hewitt Road) in Augusta County will be closed for about six weeks starting at 8 a.m. on Monday, September 15, while the Virginia Department of Transportation replaces a bridge over Middle River. The closure will extend from Route 876 (Swoope Road) to Route 708 (Miss Phillips Road).
Drivers using Route 703 will be directed on these posted detours:
- Eastbound traffic will turn north on Route 876, east on Route 254 (Parkersburg Turnpike), and then south on Route 708 back to Route 703.
- Westbound traffic will turn north on Route 708, west on Route 254 (Parkersburg Turnpike), and then south on Route 876 back to Route 703.
Route 703 is expected to reopen on Friday, October 31. All work is weather permitting.
