Part of Route 634 (Patton Farm Road) in Augusta County is scheduled to be closed December 8-11 while Norfolk Southern works on a railroad crossing. Beginning about 9 a.m. on Monday, December 8, the road will be closed to through traffic between Route 639 (Wayne Avenue) and Route 634 (china Clay Road) near Stuarts Draft. Local drivers will be allowed inside the road closure but will not be able to cross the railroad.
Traffic using Route 634 will be directed on one of these posted detours:
- Northbound drivers will detour right onto Route 634 (china Clay Road), left on Route 624 (Lyndhurst Road), left on Route 971 (Lipscomb Road), and then left on Route 970 (Hall School Road) back to Route 634 (Patton Farm Road).
- Southbound drivers coming from Route 635 (Mount Vernon Road) will detour left onto Route 970 (Hall School Road), right on Route 635 (Lipscomb Road), right on Route 624 (Lyndhurst Road), and then right on Route 634 (china Clay Road) back to Route 634 (Patton Farm Road).
- Southbound drivers coming from Route 639 (Wayne Avenue) will detour left onto Route 634 (Patton Farm Road), right on Route 970 (Hall School Road), right on Route 635 (Lipscomb Road), right on Route 624 (Lyndhurst Road), and then right on Route 634 (china Clay Road) back to Route 634 (Patton Farm Road).
Route 634 is expected to reopen by Thursday, December 11. All work is weather permitting.
